Connecting Mind and Body with Reformer Workout

Hello, I’m Lesley Logan, I’m going to guide you through this workout using the tutorials linked below. I’m the co-founder of OnlinePilatesClasses.com. I’ve been teaching since 2008. The Reformer was not the first piece of equipment I learned on. Actually, I learned the Mat-work first. I didn’t know the equipment existed! And actually, the first time I was on a Reformer, I thought I was gonna get thrown off the Reformer! But I have a new love for the Reformer because it really does support my Mat practice and my love for the Mat. So that’s what we’re gonna focus on today. This advanced pilates reformer workout is about deeply connecting to all parts of our body.

Welcome to OnlinePilatesClasses.com. The most supportive Pilates loving community across the globe. Enjoy new weekly classes from our amazing teachers. Download the OnlinePilatesClasses.com app today.

I hope you check out the Mat classes that we have on OPC so that you can also see how these exercises support you when you don’t have springs. If you have questions or worries or concerns about an exercise being right for you, when in doubt, leave it out. I believe it is brave and courageous to replace something you can’t do with something that you can. Alright, let’s get started.

Embracing Your Fitness Journey Beyond Perfection and Reps

High five yourself! You did it! It’s so important to me that I get this into you. It’s not about being perfect. Slow doesn’t equal controlled. More reps doesn’t mean harder. Accessing your entire body in every exercise is the goal. Spending time with your mind and your body going, “Hmm. Can I do that? Where am I feeling this?” And getting feedback on that. That’s the goal. That’s what we’re here for. So where I said, I want you to feel this and you didn’t… I don’t want you to go, “There’s something wrong with me.” No, there’s not. You’re amazing. You’re exactly the way you’re supposed to be. You’re gonna put in the comments. “When you did something massage. You said you feel about your legs. I don’t feel my hip flexors. What do I do?” All right?

Discover Pilates for Every Level with Lesley Logan and OPC Team

I would love for you to check out our classes at OnlinePilatesClasses.com because we love – myself, and the four other teachers – absolutely love supporting people’s practice. No matter who you are, no matter what level you are in your Pilates practice, no matter what Reformer you have, we want to help you. Because here’s why: we know the difference this makes in your life. We know when you take time for yourself, you are a better person, when you prioritize you.

OPC’s Unique Approach to Pilates: Accountability and Customized Fitness

At OPC we hold you accountable every single week, we take a class away. So yes, here on YouTube, you take this class as many times as you want, we’ve got shorter classes you can take as well, we’ve got stuff on the mat, chair, Cadillac, all that. But there’s no one holding you accountable to show up and press play.

At OPC, every single Tuesday a new class drops, we take the old one away. So you will show up at least one time for some amount of minutes to take that class because you don’t want to lose it.

Every single month we drop a longer class, if you’re here, it’s because you like a longer workout, we drop a longer workout on the Reformer. We theme it to the Mat class as well. And if you’ve accessed the other equipment, you can check out those ones. They’re all working together.

Each theme is based off of you. It’s based off of the members, the questions, the things that you need to work on, because we know that each exercise supports the other one. So if you’re struggling with an exercise right now, one, it’s because you need it. And two, we have to build your strength up.

And we use other exercises in the modality to do that. So it’s not about just being repetitive about the exercise. That’s not going to work. It’s not about shaming yourself or judging yourself. It’s about getting support on your practice. getting your questions answered. We could look at your form, and then you can start to really hone in as your personal practice. It’s our goal at OPC.

So check out OnlinePilatesClasses.com/free to get our trial offer. Check us out. Let us know who you are. And if you have questions, you can join us every Sunday at 9am Pacific Time.

Thank you so very much for being here. I hope you’ve already liked and subscribed and hit the little notifications. Never miss a class or video from us have an epic day!

SUCH A TEASE

ONLINE MAT & REFORMER PILATES CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Teaser is probably one of the most photographed exercises in Pilates. Which makes people think it's a "peak pose." But, it's anything but! It's simply another layer to your Pilates practice. This week we will acknowledge how each exercise contributes to your ability to do Teaser (someday) and then how Teaser teaches you where to get curious in your practice.

On the Mat we will use light weights for one round of Teaser as they can be helpful for those still adding into their practice.
No props on the Reformer.

See you in class,

xx~LL

UP, UP, & AWAY

ONLINE MAT, REFORMER, CADILLAC & WUNDA CHAIR PILATES CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

We are all going to feel like Super Humans after this month!!

Whenever I’m in a hard exercise (for me) where I’m holding myself up with my arms and reaching my legs away I picture myself with super human strength!!! I can do ANYTHING! It makes me smile and helps me stay STRONG.

This month our exercise is Up Stretch and when you think about it - reaching your legs away and staying strong over the carriage may feel a lot like flying!

We’ll be focusing on stabilizing our strong cores while staying equally balanced in our arms and legs. We are giving you some amazing building blocks by merging strength and stretch in all directions. You are going to get a little bit of everything that you can use to connect to your Up Stretch (and even your Roll Up and Knee Stretches Off).

Chair: Please have a foam roller and a balance pad available. We are going to challenge your balance safely.

STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH YOU

Online Mat & Reformer Pilates Class Descriptions:

Backstroke…the ultimate Middle Exercise! From our chest to our knees, front and back, we have to work our “Middle” in coordination to make The Backstroke happen. We’ll use a small ball on the Reformer and light weights on the Mat to help find our connection to this exercise.

See you in class,
Tami

AIN'T NO PARTY LIKE A 100 PARTY

Online Mat & Reformer Pilates Class Descriptions:

So many people don't love the 100. But the 100 is an incredible exercise that when you know all its capabilities can be something you might look forward to...maybe even like a little bit. Or a lot!

We often wonder why the 100 is the first exercise. I mean, it's got a lot going on for a warm up. To me it's a survey, a feedback, a mirror to how our body is doing that day. And, how cool it is to know how your body is feeling as you go into your practice. This way you can explore what your body needs in other exercises.

Let's explore what the 100 is telling us and how to make it our own each day!

No props needed.

See ya in class,

    STAND BY ME

Online Mat & Reformer Pilates Class Descriptions:

The key to longevity is being able to get down to the ground and up again with as little assistance as possible. In this weeks class we are going to focus on how to stand in your feet no matter where they are in space.

On the Mat we will have a playful ending that Joseph Pilates would do!

The Reformer we’ll end challenging ourselves standing on our carriage. (Options to do the exercises off the Reformer too!)

    No props needed.

    FRENEMIES

Online Mat, Reformer, Cadillac & Wunda Chair Pilates Class Descriptions:

Hello, it's OPC Teacher Christine here! I used to get commended for my form and flexibility in any type of movement class I went to, even if it was my very first class. But what I struggled with was always hitting a plateau where I couldn't make progress or improvement. For me, that changed when I discovered the strength and control I found in practicing Pilates.

Getting on the apparatuses puts your body in a position where you find strength, stretch, and control through your center. I was unable to fold my body like origami anymore. One of the mat exercises - double leg stretch - is great for finding a strong center regardless of what the arms and legs are doing.

For this month, we'll explore using the concept of finding an inner lift of the belly away from the thighs to find a strength in our center, the two-way stretch of the limbs, while controlling the movement of the arms and legs whether they move away from center, or come back to center.

Mat class: Magic Circle and squishy ball

    See you in class,

    Christine

    HIGH FIVE FOR ALL

ONLINE MAT, REFORMER, CADILLAC & WUNDA CHAIR PILATES CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

In Pilates we often talk about the 5 spinal shapes… do you know them? No worries if you don’t yet as this month we’re going to explore them all! How tall, round, extended, rotated or bent from our sides that we can be gives us more power & control during exercise. Let’s see what we can feel when we put the focus on working toward these particular shapes… And, lookout for combo shapes!"

On the Reformer, please have a ball, Magic Circle and your pole. A couple of pillows and a Swiffer handle all make great substitutes!
Mat, Tower/Cadillac and Wunda Chair: No props needed.

    See ya in class,

    BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN

Online Mat & Reformer Pilates Class Descriptions:

Yes, we are focusing on Horseback in this week's workout. But, we are also giving a celebration to all of us who might be back in our Pilates saddle again. Or, maybe you've been in the Saddle but stuck in the mud. This weeks workout its designed to be a positive play time with an exercise many of us avoid and one that we may never get. But, hey, it's always fun to be out where a friend is a friend - get it? If you know the song you do!

    Mat: Theraband and light weights
