The Ultimate Pilates Wedding Fitness Plan
No matter what size wedding you’ve planned for you and yours the moment you set a date and find your dress it seems the Wedding Bootcamp workouts are all the rage. But, what if you don’t want to do a bootcamp? What if you simply want to look and feel your best? And, more importantly, what no bootcamp talks about is your posture in those pictures you’ll be looking at and sharing for years to come. However, how you stand and where your shoulders are on your back will be exactly what matters in your pictures.
Pre-Wedding Workout Plan Can Do Anywhere
So, instead of diving veil first into tons of weight lifting, spin classes and squat city, what if you made time for a workout you can do anywhere? One that works your entire body out and helps your body stand taller without even having to think about it? A Pilates practice can do all the things you want and need to prepare for your wedding and those photos!
The Day We Say ‘I Do’
When I got engaged, I couldn’t have been more excited! I knew we weren’t going to have a traditional wedding in many ways but I also knew that my dress was going to be amazing. My friends who had recently married were sending me their dieting tips as well as favorite dress places. I took none of them. I mean I know they meant well, but none of it sounded fun. It sounded stressful and I wanted my wedding to be fun! I also wanted the planning of it to be stress free.
A Fitness Plan Tailored to Your Love Story
Thanking them for their suggestions and letting them know I’d reach out if I had any questions, I designed my own workout schedule. And, to be honest, it wasn’t much different than before because, after all, I am a Pilates instructor. But, knowing how little time I had (4 months) to plan our wedding I also didn’t want to be beholden to having to be in one place (the studio) to get my workouts in. So, I decided to make sure that I did my Pilates Mat practice 5 days a week.
The beauty of the Mat is that it only takes 30 min to do all the exercises and get a full body workout. How? Well, Pilates works your entire body from the center out. Your center is all the muscles around your core. Not just your abs! It includes your abs, your glutes, hamstrings, quads, inner thighs, and back muscles.
Pilates for Perfect Posture
Pilates requires us to work our entire body in each session so that we are not overworking or underworking any part of our body. And that means not just doing ab work. The Mat work also requires a lot of back connection, aka working the muscles that help support the posture you always wanted to have. Especially on your wedding day!
Many people want to lose weight before their big day. But, if you have a strong posture you’ll automatically look like you did! With Pilates, your body will hold you up so you don’t have to be thinking about “standing tall” or “pulling your shoulders back” while also smiling and hugging all those family members you didn’t know existed.
So, How Do You Start a Pilates Practice?
I’ve created a free Pilates Wedding Ready Exercises Guide for you that shows some specific exercises you can do every time you hit your Mat. Just fill out this form and confirm your email address and I’ll email it to you.
More tips after the form.

Next, you need a good mat and space around the mat to move your arms and legs.
Then, if you’ve never done Pilates before, start with my Intro to Pilates series. These three classes are only 10-15 min. so start with one and do it every day for 2-3 days then do the second class for 2-3 days and finally do the third class for 2-3 days. At the end of one week you can keep doing those if you need but you will be ready to jump into my all levels mat classes that are 30 min.
If you’ve been doing Pilates already, then grab your calendar and block out 30 min. to login to OPC and press play 5 days a week. You need to do this part now before life gets any busier.
What Days and Times Are You Going to Do Your Pilates Practice?
It’s never too early to start your Pilates practice before your wedding. The week of, keep doing your practice not because it’s going to be the “home stretch” but because it will literally be the movement meditation you need to remain stress free on your big day!
Remember, this day is special, and what’s more important is how you feel when you are up there. Feel taller, stronger and more confident with your Pilates practice supporting you.
