I HEAR THIS ALL THE TIME

I thought Pilates was for dancers.
I’m not a dancer, so I could never keep up… there’s no way I would be good enough to do Pilates…
I don't have an hour for my workout.
They always say “go big or go home…” well, I don’t have time to go big, so I just do nothing instead. Now it’s been nothing for a long time.
I can't make it to the gym every day.
Traffic is the worst, covid keeps shutting my gym… the commute ads 30 minutes and I just can’t fit it in.
I'm not thin/ flexible enough.
Every picture I see is of people thinner and more flexible than me. I don’t have the body for Pilates. Not sure I ever will…

I took a class once. I had to look around the whole time and felt embarrassed to be the only one who didn’t know what they were doing.

I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN

My body wasn’t getting stronger anymore, though I was a regular at the gym and a runner. I felt like I was “doing all the things” but was just treading water. I figured, ok, more… more cardio, more gym sessions. Eventually I even hired a personal trainer.

Then my friend dragged me to a Pilates class. I 100% made fun of Pilates and didn’t want to go. Money was tight for me. Paying for something I didn’t think would work felt like a double whammy… a waste of time and money.

I went anyway, and wow… my life changed forever! I changed my whole schedule so I could go everyday. I even became a teacher.

I used to be an all-or-nothing person when it came to my workouts. But as I got older that mindset was no longer working for me. It was actually keeping me from having freedom and consistency. I just didn’t have an hour+ each day to workout anymore, so I would just start skipping altogether.

But I knew my body still needed consistent workouts.

So, I started doing shorter Pilates workouts and found I was having the same great results. And I started working with my clients to create a Pilates workout plan that didn’t take them away from the other workouts and activities they loved. (I used to teach a lot of runners and football players.)

I mean, we all only have so much time. Pilates became something they would do between their other workouts. And they were having great result too!

That was my big turning point. A shorter Pilates workout multiple times a week was working for me and for my clients. Best part? No fancy equipment needed.

If you’re like most of our clients who come to OPC, I get that you probably don’t have an hour+ to drive to the gym, take a class and then commute home in traffic.
