One thing I see in pics, videos or virtual sessions are the heels coming apart. And it does make a difference in making the exercises happen when the heels are together. The strength you gain from that hug is necessary when the heels are apart. This week, we will use the Magic Circle for some teachable moments. But you can hug a quarter to challenge yourself.

3/27 Pilates Mat Class: March Matness Boomerang Your Mat
The Boomerang! Not just any mat exercise. But, almost every mat exercise!
I used to just say Boomerang was a rolling Teaser. But, as I made this class the truth is it’s more than that. It’s the rollover, it’s the seal, it’s the double leg kick arms, it’s inner thighs of spine twist and so many more.
Boomerang is often skipped in a mat class because it has so many moving parts, so this week’s class gives it the spotlight it truly deserves… Have fun thinking about the Boomerang for a full 30 min!
See you on your mat,

Pilates Mat & Reformer Classes: It’s all in the transitions
We spend a lot of time focusing on the “actions” of the exercises and to a good amount the set ups. But, it’s easy to skip or “rest” through the transitions. And, something so special about Pilates is that there are transitions!
I had a teacher that for a while would not let me do the exercise if I lost my connection to my center as I transitioned. Yep, it was tough!
I promise this class will be fun and full of explorations. And I hope you find some transitions you like that you can keep in your Pilates bag and use in future classes!
Nothing needed extra for either the Mat or the Reformer class. Just bring your fabulous self!

Bonus Workout: 30-Min. Mat Class with Rachel Piper “Let’s Hang Out”
In this class, we are going to explore the feeling, the strength, and the position of our hands to see how our exercises change with a little extra focus. We’ll also play with ways to gain more strength and awareness in our hands to create connections to the exercises, to our arms, and to our backs. It’ll also help you open up that pickle jar!

Pilates Mat & Reformer Classes: Let’s Stand Up, Sit Down & Do it Again
The results are in, Sitting is the New Smoking. But, if you are going to sit – which lets face it we all will – then it’s important to know that you can sit and stand with strength and control. And your Pilates practice will get you there!
This week on our Mat we will see how well we lower down, use our practice to help us roll back up and see how well we stand because of Pilates. And on the Reformer we’ll use all the exercises to help us lift ourselves up, lower ourselves down and everything in between.
See ya in class,

Pilates Mat & Reformer Classes: My Side Ways Story
Hey hey, this week we are getting cozy with our side bodies. Why? Because one thing I have discovered is how many times I have skipped side plank when doing a Mat photoshoot. Sooo clearly, if I’m avoiding it, it’s because I need it. You know, we don’t like what we really need. And, as the end of year is near, we need all the strength we can to get through the holiday season!
On the Mat, we will focus on length, strength, side plank and of course some other sideways rocking and rolling. Reformer lovers, you know we will have to do some Star and Side sit ups. But, where else can we connect to your side waist? Lets all find out!

Pilates Mat & Reformer Classes: My Favorite Magical Moments
Grab your Magic Circle for some of my favorite ways to use the Magic Circle! On the Mat, we’ll be using it every few exercises to wake up some more dormant muscles. You know those ones that like to rest while others work?! And, on the Reformer, we’ll use it to enhance a few exercises and teach some others.
No circle, no problem! You’ll just do the exercises like they were intended and use your imagination along the way.
Ready for some magic?

Pilates Mat & Reformer Classes: Breaststroke, yes you can!
We are bringing some of the Reformer to our Mat this week! Breaststroke is a Reformer exercise that is often avoided or just loathed, especially if you don’t have a spotter. But, after this week’s class, I do see some love for this exercise in your future.
On the Mat, if you have some 1 or 2 lb. weights nearby they’ll be super helpful for a few exercises. Yes, canned food or water bottles will also work here!
On the Reformer you can use those same props to do this class if the Breaststroke is new for you or if you just hate doing it. I know you’ll find through this week’s class that so much of what we do in the beginning is in preparation for Breaststroke and you’re more ready than you think!

Pilates Mat & Reformer Classes: The One Leg Variations
Your favorite exploration is back! Every time we a week focusing on our different sides abilities I get requests for more. So, here it is! We are getting asymmetrical again. If you’ve been an OPC member for awhile you will get a chance to see how you have improved since the last time. If you are new, this will be a fun way to see which side is strong than another.
On the Mat we will also do some standing Pilates exercises to challenge our balance and connection. On the Reformer we will incorporate the variations of each exercise that use one leg or one arm instead of both.

Pilates Mat & Reformer Classes: A Little More Stomach Massage In Your Life
Ok, so for my Mat lovers this theme might not be something you know. But, don’t worry! What we will be going over in this class will make you feel your “longest round shape” in every flexion exercise and your arm-to-back connection. It’s a mini version of what I taught in Rio and it made me feel my center in so many ways! No props needed for this one.
For you Reformer lovers I strongly encourage you to do the Mat this week too! Because, it will set you up for a stomach massage filled Reformer (without doing stomach massage all the time).
Hopefully, you’ll feel the massage or at least your stomach in every minute of your workout!

9/18 Pilates Mat Class: The Bar Connection
The weight pole aka bar in the Pilates Mat can be used for more than just the Roll Up and the Thigh Stretch. In fact, it’s purpose in those two exercises can be a tool for many different Pilates Mat exercises!
If you do not have a pole, weighted bar you can try 1lb weights, a dowel or a theraband. If you have none of those items I do give ways to do this class without and it will still be a challenge! So, no need to skip this week!
I hope you have fun finding your back strength and playing with the way connecting to your back with this pole can affect more than your Roll Up!

Pilates Mat & Reformer Classes: Where to Begin
Ever realize how hard it is to just get started? Once we get going it’s so much easier. When I wake up, I wonder – should run that day? If I will have time (even though I wake up early enough to make sure I can run)… But, once I am running it’s easier to keep going. The same could be true for you and your Pilates practice.
Maybe you plan to take class several times this week but you find yourself putting it off until tomorrow. Or, the next day. Maybe later will be better. Even though you know you’re going to feel better once it’s over.
This week, I thought it could be fun to practice starting at the beginning. Focusing on the “start” position of each exercise and then flowing through. Maybe this will help us practice “getting going.”
Now, the only you have to do is login and press play and then we can begin!

Pilates Mat & Reformer Classes: Neck Pull Here
It’s been awhile since I have been able to see peoples’ eyes in real time roll out loud when I say Neck Pull! But, that doesn’t mean I believe for a second its had a sudden growth in team Neck Pull. It’s a tricky exercise. It takes the difficulty of the Roll Up and adds the weight of your arms and takes away the strength of your midline. But, it’s so good you def don’t want to be skipping it. So this week, on your Mat and Reformer we will thread this exercise through both workouts.
If you have a Magic Circle – or Theraband you can tie to be a circle – then def have it handy for the Mat. No extra props needed for the Reformer.
See ya in class,
xx-LL
P.S. This was a pseudo request from our on fire FB group!
