WHAT GOES UP MUST COME DOWN
Online Mat & Reformer Pilates Class Descriptions:
After many requests for more Upstretch class and more down stretch class, this weeks class will focus on both reaches! On the Mat we will first find our Up and Down Reach (aka Stretch) and then thread that throughout the class. If you have a soft ball or cushion it’ll help in the beginning.
On our Reformer we will find these reaches in the beginning and then use them to challenge some of the exercises we don’t always get to do. If you have 1lb weights grab them just in case you decide to do the modification.

Girl, your transition to Open Leg Rocker was FREAKING BEAUTIFUL! I was struggling to find it. Ok… The shoulder bridge, is not my exercise. I can’t hold parallel with my legs and stand on my feet, then shift. Too hard, perhaps you can give more tips on that one. I have NEVER mastered it, with the hands under the hips.
Secondly, The teaser to the hip circles… that was amazing and hard, BUT – I was able to do it and connect to my back ribs to the fingers and that is the FIRST time I have been able to straighten my arms. I always choose the modification (bent elbows).
Great class – up lift front fascia / back lift back fascia LOVE LOVE LOVE
Carrie! I am soo happy you did hip circles with straight arms! That is epic!! I love a good modification but I think more people can do straight arms sooner than they think. And, the shoulder bridge with hands under…I’ll think about that as a theme. Also, for now do you have a small barrel or spine corrector to do shoulder bridge on?
Awesome! Ok, Shoulder Bridge: I do have a arc barrel by STOTT, foam roller, small ball, yoga bolster and yoga blocks – I tried to create a modification for myself – but it didn’t feel very successful. I am bow legged so my femur bones tend to not like parallel that much. The way you cued it lift the leg was different than how I was taught. Your version is much more challenging. We bring the leg to table top to deveolpe’.
Thanks for the help!
Place a ball in between your knees and practice straightening one leg out while hugging the ball. And then when you get that feeling good you can lower and lift your leg rolling the ball up and down your leg. Your bones are perfect the way they so just know thaty they may need a little more support but over time you’ve got this.
I looked up the arc by stott and it’s a bit low for your height. So a spine corrector with your feet on the step would be better. Check out my tutorial here un “spine corrector.”
