WHAT’S UP WITH UP STRETCH?
Online Mat & Reformer Pilates Class Descriptions:
I really think you can Up Stretch sooner than you think. And, I know my Mat-only lovers are wondering… Upstretch? What? Don’t worry, you know it! You do it in many forms on the Mat, but we call it Double Straight Leg Stretch or Jackknife. So, let’s get up in our Upstretch and we’ll explore how the Mat exercises truly do prepare you for some of the complicated Reformer exercises.
See you on the Upside

YES! Really found my up stretch in opposition to my down stretch. When a client get’s the theory of opposition in each movement it just changes everything :-). On that note and based on your closing chat at the end of the class…… I change my cues every few months. Not just for my clients (as otherwise they second guess me) but for myself. New cues = new passion for whichever exercise I am teaching and that generally changes the way a client feels/understands the exercise.
Thanks Lesley. I really appreciate the effort you put into your on-line classes and the change of focus each week. I am able to deepen the work into my own body but also take new cues into the sessions for my clients. x
Nikki, thank you so much for your comment. It really means so much to me. I am so grateful that I get to share my ideas and thoughts, themes and that you and others enjoy them and find something valuable is what I hoped for. I am so happy you found your Upstretch too!! And so happy you get to use these cues with your clients too! It’s a double win xx~LL
Hi Lesley ~ I really loved the cue in rowing 1: “think tips of blades rotating in and toward each other” to keep the shoulders wide. I use a similar cue in mat classes – “gently pull the tips of the shoulder blades together”, it helps keep the shoulder blades/back wide and the chest open!
cheers xx-Lori
ohh I like your version too! Thank you for joining me for class today and hope you have fun with the wrist class this week too! xx~LL
