Online Mat, Reformer, Cadillac & Wunda Chair Pilates Class Descriptions:
The actions of Hanging…suspending a muscle group, and Holding…keeping a still contraction of a muscle group, give us different areas of focus during our workouts. This month, let’s look at how hanging and holding on the Mat, Wunda, Reformer, and Tower can be used to increase strength and flexibility, release tension, and help us stay more actively connected throughout each exercise!
Just for the Tower…
When we think of Hanging in Pilates we think of feet in the fuzzies, hanging off of the Cadillac! This month we’ll use the Tower, hang small sections of the body at a time, and work toward finding our best positions in Teaser, Tower and Monkey…all exercises that look like you’re hanging, but you’re not! You can have a folded towel or blanket at the ready to offer extra support.
On the Mat have a Thera-Band or an old pair of leggings nearby. We’ll be getting our hang on working towards Teaser, Thigh Stretch and High Scissors. Over on the Reformer, no extra props but the Hang focus will be on Rowing, Long Stretch Series and more. And of course our Chair…the hardest workout there is…we’ll be making sure we are holding on the right places so we are not hanging out in the wrong places.
