Teaser on the C-Shaper
Pilates Teaser is often seen as the “peak” or “ultimate” Pilates pose. However, Pilates is a series of exercises not poses. And Teaser is just one of 500+ Pilates exercises. The Teaser will reveal what connections we have and which ones we are missing. Add the Pilates C-Shaper to your Teaser practice and you’ll get all the feedback you need to find the strength you need to have the longest round shape! After you do Teaser on the C-Shaper try it on the Mat and see if you can incorporate the feedback.
Focus less on how low you go in Teaser and more on how long you get!
Start sitting towards the front of the C-Shaper like you would for Rolling Like a Ball or Open Leg Rocker. Sit just behind your tailbone and lift your waist as tall as you can. Reach both legs to straight hugging the legs together and working our outer hip and inner thigh muscles. Start with the legs a little higher to help you get your legs working from your center. Eventually legs at eye level. Reach your arms from your upper back muscles towards your feet.
Holding your legs in place lift your arms up towards the ceiling from your upper back as you work your waist back to the C-Shaper. Notice if you get shorter or if your upper back touches the C-Shaper before your lower back. Someday the entire back touches the C-Shaper and gets longer. Then maintaining your longest round shape reach back up to the start position. Repeat 3x.
If that goes well hold your upper body in place as you lower and lift your legs 3x.
Then try to do both the legs and the upper body at the same time! Repeat for 3 reps.
When you feel you are ready to try it on the Mat see if you can take the feedback you learned from the C-Shaper to your Mat practice.
