Shave with Standing Arm Springs on the Cadillac
One of the many exercises available in the Standing Arm Springs Series on the Pilates Cadillac or Tower is Shave. Shave is an exercise we see often in Pilates. You can do Shave on the Reformer, Arm Chair and even seated on the Cadillac with Arm Springs. Standing Shave with Arm Springs provides unique challenges that a seated Shave does not. When you’re ready to challenge your ability to stand strong in your entire body give Shave a try. You can start first with a Roll Back Bar if necessary. The stronger you get at Shave with your Standing Arm Springs the more exercises that will become available.
Reach your arms towards straight from your back not your triceps.
Like all Standing Arm Springs exercises, you will be at the end of your Cadillac with your springs on the hook at shoulder height or just above. Standing with your back towards the springs hold one spring in each hand. Heels together and toes slightly apart, reach through all four corners of your feet. With fingers long and together press the thumb and index fingers of each hand together like you would for Shave on the Reformer. Your handles will look like a triangle. Hands facing your head and starting behind your head. Elbows are wide.
Leaning slightly forward while keeping weight in your heels reach your arms forward and up. You may not get your arms to straight. Bend your elbows and resist the springs back and your hands return behind your head. Repeat. Can also do Single Arm here as well. Return back to start with your shoulders over your hips and heels before going into any of the other Standing Arm Springs exercises.
