Short Box Series: Around the World on the Ladder Barrel
Short Box Around the World combines your Twist & Reach and Flat. If you struggle to maintain length in your back as you return up from Twist & Reach or Flat then work those before you add in Around the World. Short Box Around the World requires your entire body to stay connected from head to toe. There are zero breaks. The legs will support your base allowing you to have the freedom to twist all the way around in both directions. Doing Around the World on the Pilates Ladder Barrel is an excellent place to train the legs and the twist because you have more access to the strength of the back of the legs on the Ladder Barrel then on the Reformer.
Twist from waist especially as you do the 2nd twist. Lift up from center.
Typically done from Short Box Twist & Reach. Legs remain parallel and hips distance apart. Arches of your feet on the 2nd rung from the top. Hips on top of the barrel apex. Arms reaching up overhead slightly in front of the ears. Pulling the bar apart. Sitting tall!
Twist from your waist to the right. Reach out to a long line. Hips remain on the barrel, square and legs working into the rung. Unwind to a Flat back then from your waist (not the arms) twist to the left and lift up. Unwind at the top and then reverse. Twist to the left, reach out, unwind and then twist to the right and lift up.
