TMJ with the Towel
Joseph Pilates was obsessed with our bodies working evenly. No muscles over worked or under worked. And that includes the muscles in your neck and jaw. Joseph Pilates would give those with TMJ this Towel exercise! And like the other towel exercises, you can do it at home with your own towel.
Joseph Pilates would give those with TMJ this Towel exercise!
Standing tall with feet parallel and a hips distance apart or heels together toes slightly apart. Take a clean towel and grab the corner of the towel. Wind it up so its twisted and tight and easy to put way in the back of your mouth on side. Get the towel to the back teeth on one side. Hold the other end of the towel with both hands. Elbows wide. Shoulders on your back.
Pull your center in, stand stall and bite down into the towel. Pull with both arms and then release 3-5x. Then switch the towel to the other side and repeat.
