Andrea Maida and I are continuing our deep dive into a few areas of Pilates. Last week we talked about…
In this week’s class, LL wants you to feel your body go in two different directions. Normally in life, we prefer not to be pulled all over the place but in this case, on your Pilates mat, you will love how this tug of war feels inside your body. Plus, connecting your body to Pilates and your mind on your mat will allow the outside world to disappear. So, what are you waiting for? Put those people vying for your attention on hold. Snag some floor space and enjoy the work of Pilates in your body.
As I write this post I am hours away from a call with hopefully my last attempt to living life without wondering can I eat this? If I eat this how will I feel?
I going to just get super freaking honest here. I try to not be jealous of anyone. It happens, but usually, I take note and move on.
Now more than ever it’s easy to feel alone. Isn’t that crazy? We are more connected than ever to our friends, family, our friends’ friends, and random people from around the world who have the same interests as we do. And yet, we feel alone and like we could be embarrassed or more alone if we say the wrong thing or do something uncool.
This week’s mat Pilates class is a special request from one of YOU! While I don’t work hours in front of my computer I too am on my devices or working hours rounded forwarded working with a client.
Running your business, life, and family can seem like all you have time for. But you know that you want to feel better, have more energy and feel like you’re more in control of all the things. It’s so easy to let everything else take up your time. But, you really are the most important thing. And, it’s super easy to lose sight of that when you’re “in it.” But, here are my best tips for putting yourself first and not feeling guilty about it.
Consistency is pretty much key to anything you want in life. And, that is the truth for Pilates too! But, what if you are just starting your Pilates practice? How do you even do that? What does that look like? Is there a difference between Pilates and Yoga? Or, what if you had a Pilates practice but life happened and you are wanting to pick it back up again. But, how? Whether you are a true Pilates beginner or just beginning again there are so many benefits to a Pilates practice that the first key to getting started is to start. Right where you are!
I remember one of the first retreats I went on. I chose it because the original one I wanted to…
You plan your next trip back to do it all over again! … We arrived here on Sunday, March 5th, and our personal tuk-tuk driver Poly took us to our retreat space. I knew this space would be unique and calm. I was not expecting it to be this artistic oasis with plenty of meditation spots, hammocks, mango trees with branches that provided a canopy from the Cambodian sun and bungalows with handmade mosaic floors.
Mat Pilates outside! What could be better? It’s not every day that we have the opportunity to do a workout outside that not a run, walk, hike, Paddleboard etc. Most people do Pilates indoors. But, what I found is that there is something pretty magical about doing Pilates outside that you cannot get from an indoor class. However, if you’re not prepared, doing Pilates outside can be quite the chore.
I used to think that ‘Control’ when doing Pilates meant ‘Slow.’ I know that slow is not in the definition…
I chose Siem Reap Cambodia as one of my regular retreat havens because of its charm, Temples, and magic. It’s a place on almost everyone’s bucket list but it’s so far away that many people never get to see it. So, by curating a Pilates vacation many people have an excuse to travel halfway around the world and don’t have to plan much but their flights. And, while the week-long schedule is full there is plenty of spare time for you to choose your own adventure.
This week’s online Pilates mat class will have you feeling your seat in all new ways! We start the class off…
“Whenever LL hears that Pilates is easy or that an exercise isn’t hard she knows that there is zero control happening. The body is moving but it’s basically just doing the choreography. When you are doing Pilates with control and a bit of focus on precision every exercise works the whole body.
Recently, I went down to La Jolla and went to Andrea Maida’s home and Pilates studio. She has been my collab partner in Youtube crime for almost 6 months and for the next four weeks we are bringing you a series of answers to your questions!
