Double Leg Stretch (Ab Series 2/5) on the C-Shaper
Double Leg Stretch is the second exercise in the Pilates Abdominal Series on the Mat. Double Leg Stretch on the C-Shaper is no different. Doing the Double Leg Stretch on the Pilates C-Shaper provides feedback on where you reach your arms and legs from while maintaining the longest flexion in your spine. When you set up in the C-Shaper you find the placement that challenges your flexion. Breathing into the C-Shaper so that you can take up space from top to bottom and side to side. After completing the Pilates Abdominal Series on the C-Shaper try it out on the Mat!
Feel your arms & legs reaching in opposition to stretch the back long!
Typically done after Single Leg Stretch on the C-Shaper with knees pulled into chest and one hand on each shin. Heels together, knees slightly apart. Finding the longest length in the C-Shaper without “sinking.” Elbows wide to the side with arms connected to the upper back muscles. The pull on the legs feels like a “row.” Which allows you to take more space on the C-Shaper. Breathe into your low ribs on the C-Shaper.
Pull on the legs two times from your arms connected to your back. Reach your legs out to the diagonal that you can hold with your center. Typically eye level or higher as you reach your arms up to the ceiling without losing your connection to the C-Shaper. How long can you get in your flexion? Circle the arms around as you bend your knees into your center. Hugging your heels together and knees apart. Pull on your legs two times and repeat the reach.
Afterwards if going well go into Single Straight Leg Stretch. Then after completing the series repeat it on the Mat and see what you can maintain from the C-Shaper.
