Shave with Roll Back Bar on the Cadillac
Pilates Standing Arm Springs includes Shave. To get ready for it, try Shave with the Roll Back Bar standing. It got all the challenges of the Standing Arm Springs Shave but with the added benefit of the bar which allows your arms to work together. You can do Shave with the Roll Back Bar on a Pilates Cadillac or Tower. As you play with this exercise be mindful of your wrists. They do like to bend or do some funny things as you move. And, while it’s tempting to make this about the triceps. Focus on your elbows being wide as you reach your arms towards straight and bend.
Reach down through your legs as you open AND as you close the springs.
Hook your Roll Back Bar to the Standing Arm Springs hooks. If you have multiple hooks choose the one that is at your shoulder height or just above. Stand facing away from your Cadillac or Tower with your hands holding the middle of the bar. Ideally, index fingers and thumbs pressing into each other but you may have to hold with fists wrapped around the bar and next to each other. Stand on all four corners of your feet evenly. Not just the balls of your feet or heels. Hug your heels together and wrap your outer thighs towards each other. Reach your elbows wide!
Leaning forward with your whole body while keeping weight in your heels reach the bar forward and up. Your arms do not have to get too straight. Reach only as much as your elbows are wide. Then bend your elbows and repeat. While leaning be sure you’re not hanging out in your lower back. Your center is holding your lower back up while the springs open and close. When this feels attainable switch to your arms springs or stands further away from the poles.
