Standing Ice Skater on the Mat
Standing Ice Skater or Standing Twist on the Pilates Mat is a fun challenge and a great stretch! Or, if you’re like me a Pilates exercise you can do anywhere! I love to do it at the airport! When done correctly you’ll feel a great stretch through your lower back and still working the strength of your center and outer hips. Use this as a great ending to a Mat workout or whenever you need to do some Pilates!

Standing with your feet about your hips distance or a little wider apart. Arms reaching wide to the side at shoulder height. Reach your tailbone down and lift your center up.
Simultaneously lift both heels up. Reach down through the balls of your feet, leave your feet into the floor and turn around. Your legs will be cross. Lower your heels down. Bend your front knee and reach both arms for the back leg/ankle. Your spine will round and twist to do this. Root down through your feet, lift up through your waist and unwind all the way up until you’re facing where you started. Repeat on the other side.
