Side Body Stretch on the Cadillac

It’s tempting to live in the stretchy part. Work the strength in this exercise from your center out instead of from your arm or shoulder.

Side Body Stretch on the Cadillac

Side Body Stretch on the Pilates Cadillac is a unique space to work this stretch. While there are other versions of this you can do on a Tower. This particular Side Body Stretch can only be done on a Cadillac. You can use a Short Box or a Moon Box depending on your height. As you do this Side Body Stretch its tempting to live in the stretchy part. But the more you work your strength in this exercise the more you'll get out of the Side Body Stretch. Work from the center out instead of from your arm or shoulder.

Work from the core out, side bending from the muscles not flexibility.

Place your Moon Box or Short Box in along the long side of your Cadillac. Stand on it and place your hands on the top bar. Feet and legs hugging together and reaching into the box. Hands-on the bar, arms connected to your upper back. Look straight ahead.

Letting go of the bar with one hand, gaze down towards that hand as you reach your waist to the side. Your arm will become straight but will remain connected to your back. It's tempting to let your shoulder come off your back and hang out in the flexibility. Without pulling your arm use your center to stand back up, switch your hands and your gaze and reach your body to the other side. Repeat as needed. Enjoy this movement and try not to rush it too much. Work the longest length in both sides as you move. Especially the side you are bending towards.
