Leg Series: Circles on the Spine Corrector
Circles is part of the Pilates Leg Series on the Spine Corrector. If the Pilates Spine Corrector isn’t ideal for your body based on flexibility or height use the Small Barrel instead. Circles on the Pilates Spine Corrector challenges your ability to stabilize your pelvis. While teaching you how to connect to your Thass® and open up the front of your hips. As you circle the legs you will be able to feel how low and high you can go. If the big Circles are going well. Frog in and then Frog out to try the Small Circles and other Leg Series variations. If this is going well it should support your Long Spine Massage and High Frogs on the Reformer.
Even when the heels are apart, work your legs towards each other!
With hips on the apex of the barrel, heels together and knees apart, hold the handles to find width in your upper back. Gaze to the ceiling. Frog your legs out to the high diagonal and then lift the legs up as high as you can while maintaining your pelvis on the barrel. Open the legs as wide as your Mat. You can go wider or narrower based on your strength as long as you don’t “hang” in your flexibility. Reach the legs away then hug together and lift the legs up and repeat. Reverse then Frog in and move on to the next Leg Series variation based on your practice.
If new error on the side of the narrower and circles that don’t go too low or high. But, if more advanced use some zest to see how you can maintain your connections and work your range. If going well you can work your way to Leg Circles on the Head.
