The Pilates Toe Corrector exercises are ideally done seated with legs long. But, not everyone can sit with their legs extended. Tight hip flexors or tight lower back or both can affect your ability to get the most out of the Toe Corrector or use it at all. Sitting on the Cadillac, Reformer bed or a bench allows you to work the Toe Corrector and when you’re able to sit with legs extended, you can progress.
It’s ok if you don’t open the spring very much. Maintain connection to the floor at all times.
Sitting on an elevated surface with legs bent feet on the floor place the Toe Corrector around the big toes. Toe Corrector around the base of the toes or near the tip of the toes. Feet flat on the floor or box if needed. Toes long and flat. Arms long by side. Hands pressing into the elevated surface as you sit tall. Engage your seat to assist in sitting taller.
Maintaining all toes on the floor or box work the balls of the feet apart to open the spring. Then slide the feet parallel to close the spring. Repeat opening the spring without the knees opening or toes lifting. Slide the feet to parallel to close the spring.
Repeat and if needed work only one foot at a time. Weaker side then stronger side and then weaker side.
