Rowing 5: Shave Advanced on the Arm Chair
Shave on the Pilates Arm Chair or Baby Chair has variations to challenge you when you’re ready. The first way to challenge your Shave is to sit up tall away from the back of the chair. As you Shave notice if you’re able to maintain or even get more length in your back. If that is going well trying this next version of Shave will be an even greater challenge and you’ll truly realize how full body every Pilates exercise can get on the Arm Chair.
Work your waist back towards the chair as you reach your arms forward.
Sitting in the Arm Chair with one handle in each hand. Place your hands behind your head as if you were doing the original Shave version. If possible pressing the soles of your feet into each other. Work your legs all the way up through your hip and into your center. Sit up against the chair to find your length. Then lift up and away from the chair and lean over your legs with your chest parallel to the floor. Pull your waist back to oppose the reach of your spine over your legs.
Reach your arms towards straight as you did in Shave against the chair. Arms reach parallel to the floor. Behind your elbows and pull the handles back to your start position. Repeat. Then sit up against the chair. Repeat for another set if you want. If this goes well give Boxing on the Arm Chair a try.
